The Transgender Day of Remembrance is an annual day that honors the memory of those who were victims of anti-transgender violence. In recognition of the day of remembrance, 91桃色视频’s Rosie’s Room, located in the Student Success Center, was decorated with bright colors with posters listing statistics about current and historical violence against members of the transgender community. A documentary was also displayed for students,

A remembrance board was also displayed with messages of support from members of the 91桃色视频 campus community. Members were encouraged to add positive messages to the display throughout the day.

The cleanup project is part of the adopt-a-highway program, of which 91桃色视频 has been a member since 2018. Each semester participating students, faculty and staff work to gather trash and other debris from the roadway along Highway 71, reducing hazards to drivers and risks to local wildlife.

Students also held a competition for the most unique finds. This year’s winner was an intact hot pink pool float.

With a combined value of $53,500, the 2021 awarded scholarships were supported by the 91桃色视频 Foundation and included the George W. Neilson Foundation Scholarship, the Uran Family Scholarship, the Fred Breen Scholarship, the Paul Bunyan Communications Scholarship, the Ottertail Power Company, the Mississippi Headwaters Bloodbank, the Paul Bunyan Vintage Auto Club, Montana-Dakota Utilities Resources Foundation and the Dick’s Plumbing and Heating Scholarship.

During the Scholarship Recognition Ceremony, recipients were individually introduced during the reception and received a letter of congratulation from 91桃色视频 President Faith C. Hensrud.

“We really see our mission come to life through the scholarship recognition ceremony,” Ashley Johnson, 91桃色视频’s Foundation development officer, said. “We are connecting our donors to the students they are supporting through scholarships. Plus it’s important to celebrate quality technical education and the students who are working hard to become our future workforce.”

Additionally, Darrin Strosahl, 91桃色视频’s vice president for academic and student affairs, and Johnson acknowledged the students.

91桃色视频’s gerontology faculty Dr. Wendy Potratz and Alicia Carley guided students through the immersive experience and afterwards debriefed with students to measure their perspectives regarding care for elderly and dementia patients. Students mentioned that the experience was overwhelming but that it helped them to be more aware and empathetic when dealing with members of the population that may be experiencing dementia.

The dementia lab is a hands-on experience coordinated by Potratz and is a key component of Northwest Tech’s gerontology program.

The event featured pulled pork sandwiches, games for students, an impromptu corn-hole tournament and door prizes. The event was both a welcome event for students returning to campus and invited students to get to know those elected to represent them to the 91桃色视频 administration team.

The Student Senate establishes protocols for campus-sponsored activities, allocates funds for campus projects and uplifts other student organizations. Senators are elected from each program with officers elected by enrolled students.

Chrissy Downwind, executive director of the AIRC, began the event with an official welcome and introduced Ojibwe Nation drum group, led by Rodney Johnson Jr. After an introductory honor song, Roxanne DeLille, dean of Indigenous and academic affairs at Fond Du Lac Tribal Community College in Cloquet, Minnesota, conducted a pipe ceremony that honored the four directions, land, water and sky that surround campus.

Fellow AIRC leaders Ann Humphrey, associate director of retention, and Ron Wilson, associate director of outreach, welcomed students from across campus and served mannomin (wild rice) with a side of fruit and berries with maple syrup.

Attendees met with representatives from the college’s nursing program and Sanford Health of Bemidji, where they received an overview of the program and curriculum, and toured campus.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Occupational Outlook Handbook, employment in the healthcare sector is projected to grow 15% from 2019 to 2029, adding about 2.4 million new jobs, much faster than the average for all occupations.

With its international headquarters based out of Maple Grove, Nortech is a full service electronics manufacturing services provider that offers support for a wide range of industries including industrial and commercial equipment, medical device, aerospace and defense. The company also has a branch located in Bemidji.

The Nortech executives were guided across campus by President Faith C. Hensrud, Darrin Strosahl, vice president of academic affairs, and Monty Johnson, dean of skilled trades, business and industry. Bemidji State University’s Allen Bedford, vice president of academic affairs, Dan Voss, transfer partnership coordinator, and Dr. David Towley associate professor of technology, art and design were also in attendance.
